Alison Weir (author)

Every once in awhile, I get in the mood to read nonfiction biographies, and I have to admit, my go-to author is Alison Weir. For some reason, I am drawn to the characters of Tudor England, larger-than-life people who lived and died in this era of political intrigue, scandal, and beheadings! And she writes in a way that makes them come alive for me. My favorite nonfiction book of hers is “The Six Wives of Henry VIII” but I recently found her “War of the Roses” in an eclectic little bookshop in Milwaukee and enjoyed that as well. In addition, Weir writes historical fiction set in the same time period too. I know this is not the kind of reading most people enjoy so I am not writing much about it, but if you are curious to know more about Tudor England, either historical fiction or nonfiction, Alison Weir is a great author.
